Steals and Deals at Neiman Marcus

Turquoise Skirt Suit, $93.75

Turquoise Skirt Suit, $93.75

It’s getting to be that time of year, pr0n stars: where the temperatures are high and the prices are low.  It’s the time of year where you can find incredible deals even at stores like Neiman Marcus, that might otherwise be off your radar.

There were so many great finds that I had hard time whittling them down for you.  Let’s not waste any more time.

.

Have you ever found a bargain so good that you almost wonder what’s wrong with it?  Don’t wonder, just BUY this stunner of a turquoise suit.

The jacket has a portrait collar and button front with long sleeves. It comes with a peplum pencil skirt, made in the USA.

Here’s the kicker: this entire suit is still available in sizes 6, 8, 10, & 14 (classic sizing).  The site will take another 25% off the current price when you get to checkout, bringing this $250 suit down to $93.75.

If you need summertime suits, don’t let this one slip!

Gray Leather Trapeze Jacket - $103.00

Gray Leather Trapeze Jacket - $103.00

.Sizes 16/18 I got your bargain right here, and it’s a gem.  How would you like a grey leather trapeze jacket?  Yeah?  How about for  $100?  Yes?  Good?  Okay – here you go.

Exclusive to NM, a gray leather trapeze jacket, size XL (16-18).  I adore the feminine details; check out the funnel collar, 3/4 length sleeves and gathers just above the bust.

The trapeze shape is going to make it super flattering and easy to wear.

You’re not going to pay $295, oh no.  Your price is only $103.00.  Get it NOW.  Bargains like this don’t come around very often.

.

Bettye Mueller Two-Tone Sandal, $195.75

Bettye Mueller Two-Tone Sandal, $195.75

Pardon me for oversharing, but I want to lick these shoes.  I’m a huge Bettye Muller fan; she makes shoes that are feminine, fun and a little funky – frequently with just a slightly retro feel.

Think of these two-tone sandals as an investment:  an investment in deliciousness. Two-tone patent leather open toe sandals come in either blue/purple or hot pink/orange, with a t-strap vamp, and 3″ stacked heel.

If you get open toe shoes, I beg of you not to wear closed toe hose with them.  You can even buy footless hose now!  Seeing covered toes peeking out from an open toe has got to be one of my fashion pet-peeves right behind Visible Panty Lines.  But I digress.

Lots of sizes (5-9) are still available in both colors.  Normally you’d pay $390 for the privilege of slipping these on, but take an extra 25% off the sale price at checkout for a final price of $195.75.

Artist Colony Tunic in Baked Apple, $35

Artist Colony Tunic in Baked Apple, $35

.Let’s go bargain basement.  Is $35 low enough for you?  Buy the Artist Colony cotton tunic and wear it Spring through Fall with jeans or underneath a suit, or even with a pair of bermuda shorts and sandals.

“Boho chic” is still super stylish and popular; the embroidery bib, gathered empire waist and slightly puffed sleeve give this shirt a bohemian vibe without looking messy or out of date.

Pictured here in “baked apple”, it’s also available in black and taffy (ivory), sizes 4-10 contemporary, which runs a little smaller than a “classic” fit.  A size guide is available on the web page.

An empire waist tunic is really flattering if you’ve got a little tummy to hide.   Empire waists stop at your smallest part, just under the bust, and then skim over what’s below.  Three-quarter length sleeves are a great way to also bring the eye up.

.

Juicy Couture Flower-Button Trench Coat, $194.25

Juicy Couture Flower-Button Trench Coat, $194.25

Would someone please buy Juicy Couture’s flower-button trench coat so I don’t?  *cries*

The hardest part of writing a shopping blog is that inevitably you find something you want to buy, and I want this coat.

Juicy’s clothing is always colorful and slightly girly.  How can you not fall for a poinsettia red short cotton trench with 3/4 length sleeves and gold-tone flower buttons?

Sizes petite (0) to XL (14) are still for the taking, but Juicy definitely sizes contemporary so check the size guide.  Save another 25% at checkout, for just over half price off $398 – final price $194.25.

taryn by Taryn Rose Driver Ballerina Flats, $98.25

taryn by Taryn Rose Driver Ballerina Flats, $98.25

.
If you’re like me, you love the look of little flats, but your feet hate them.  Enter taryn by Taryn Rose’s Driver Ballerina flats.

Is it a driving moc?  Is it a ballerina flat?  It’s both and it’s ergonomically designed to fit your feet.

You may care that Taryn Rose was an orthopedic surgeon before she was a shoe designer, or maybe that these oh so cute shoes come in blue and camel patent leather, were made in Italy with fantastic stitching detail.

You should care that instead of $195, they’ll cost you $98.25, and there’s still size 12 available in camel!  Someone tell me I don’t need the blue ones…

.
There’s lots more to see, like this Nanette Lepore Buzz sundress for $81, so don’t wait, and be sure to enter code NMSUMMER for free shipping.

I just saw that Saks is having a big clearance, so I’m off to see what’s there. That’s it for this edition of Shopping Pr0n, my little pr0n panecotta.

It was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

Pr0n Plus: Spring Basics Edition

La Canadienne Stella, $225.68

La Canadienne Stella, $225.68 at Zappos

Happy Spring, Northern Hemisphere!  I’m afraid this blog is a bit Northern-Hemisphere-centric.  I’m a day late with this week’s Pr0n Plus, but I think it’s a good one.  In today’s Shopping Pr0n, we’re going to look at spring wardrobe basics.

I’ll be showing plus size styles, but these are items which should and can go in anyone’s closet: a spring coat, a cotton shirt, pants, sweater, a day dress, and some cute comfy shoes.

.

The first thing everyone needs for spring is a raincoat.  You can sing “Rain rain go away” to your heart’s content, but it doesn’t seem to do much good.

Standing Collar Trench, $54.99 at Target

Standing Collar Trench, $54.99 at Target

Pears/Hourglasses and apples have different needs for coats.  (How do you know if you’re a pear or an apple?  Do you have a defined waist?  No?  You’re an apple.

Do you have Bette Davis eyes thighs?  You’re a pear.) When buying coats, a pear actually doesn’t necessarily want to define a waist.

Look at this classic belted trenchcoat from Target.  Yes, Target.  For a pear or hourglass is that once you cinch the belt, it over-emphasizes what’s happening down below, and you look lumpy and heavier than you are.

For an apple, this helps define what you don’t have much of.  Since there’s less inch difference beween chest, waist and butt, the belt will emphasize, not over-emphasize.

.
.
Pears (for the rest of this post, just extend pear advice to hourglasses), try something like this fun “Rainy Day Mac” from Boden.

Rainy Day Mac, $138 at Boden

Rainy Day Mac, $138 at Boden

Don’t worry about your waist – it’s not going anywhere.  The key is to deemphasize the “booty area” (it’s a technical term).

.
By wearing something that doesn’t chop you off in the middle, you look sleek and svelte.  Boden goes up to a UK size 20 (US 18ish), and they have this style in a few other patterns.

.
What I love about Boden’s website is that they show you how much stock they have left for each color and size.
.
..
.
Working from the outside in, you’re going to want a day dress: something you can dress up for work, and dress down on the weekend.  I love this tie-back dress from Donna Ricco.
.
Donna Ricco Tie Back Dress, $168

Donna Ricco Tie Back Dress, $168

Big prints are great for plus-sizes; it’s a matter of proportion.  Also, this type of tie-back, or similar wrap-dress is going to flatter lots of body types.

.
Not everyone has a small waist, but the smallest part of every woman’s body is almost always under her bust.  Add an adjustable top to an empire waist and it’s genius.
.
Remember that you can always put a cami on underneath if there’s too much boobage (also a technical term).
..
..

Every woman must must must (must) have in her closet a simple button down shirt, a pair of casual pants, and a colorful cardigan.

Gap Dobby Striped Roll-Up Shirt, $48

Gap Dobby Striped Roll-Up Shirt, $48

These three pieces can be mixed and matched with nearly everything else in your closet, will never go out of fashion, and can be bought nearly anywhere to suit your individual style.

Simply Be Combat Pants, 32p

Simply Be Combat Pants, 32p

I’ve chosen a white cotton roll-up shirt from the Gap, a pair of pants from Simply Be, and a cardigan from Pink Marzipan.

The Gap has practically made its name on basics like this; their XXL is a size 18 or 20.  J. Crew goes up to a 16 on many products, as does Banana Republic.

PAS Knitted Cardigan In China Blue- Poro, 64p

PAS Knitted Cardigan In China Blue- Poro, 64p

For a lower price point, try Macy’s or Target or H&M.  Oh!  This summer (I think), Forever21 is coming out with a plus size line.  Yay!  Hopefully it will be the same kind of “knock-off trendy” as the original.

One point about this style of cardigan/sweater: it has the potential to be very cute on both apples and pears, but pears have to be careful.

If it doesn’t look right, it’ll wind up making you look pregnant.  If it does look right, it’ll look cute and flowy.  I’m a pear and I bought similar a few weeks ago, but the style rarely works on me.

.
It is my sincere belief that every woman should own at least one pair of red shoes.  These Vaneli flats are very similar to a pair of Eccos I splurged on and have never regretted.

Vaneli Indo Flat, $54.97 at Endless

Vaneli Indo Flat, $54.97 at Endless

They’ve got a slight heel (much better for you than plain flats), and cushy, flexible rubber soles.  You’ll get compliments on them nearly every time you wear them.  Dinsquared guaranteed.

These puppies are on clearance for $54 and change at Endless. com, and they’re still available in lots  of narrow and wide sizes up to a 10.

You need a pair of shoes that aren’t sneakers that are still comfortable to walk around in: to a friend’s house, to lunch, to the mall.  I can wear my Eccos for hours.; these Vaneli’s look pretty comfy, too.

Jimmy Choo "Clue" at Nordstrom

Jimmy Choo "Clue" at Nordstrom

By the way, did you know that Jimmy Choo’s go up to a size 11.5/12?  I certainly didn’t.
.
Jimmy Choo’s really don’t have anything specific to do with spring, but they’re fabulous and come in a large size, so I’m showing them to you.  Aren’t they fabulous?
..

That’s all the time we have together today my little pr0n popcorn.  I have more post ideas than I have time to do them all.

.

I hope to bring you a post on women’s suits, a series dressing for your body type, a series on how to make a wardrobe out of your closet, a post on coats…oy!  Please stay with me, won’t you?
.
Until next time, it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

Wink NYC Sale Pr0n

Hello, again my lovely pr0n friends.  Right now you’re probably thinking: another post? In the same morning?  It’s true.  And I wouldn’t ordinarily do it, but I was tipped off by my friends from SmartyPanties that WinkNYC was having a promo on its sale items.  Through 2/17, enter XTR25 at checkout and save, well, an extra 25%.

The selection is somewhat limited, but there are some stellar deals I had to share with you.  Because a true friend always shares their pr0n.

.

Starting with this “Tin Soldier Jacket” from Bailey 44.  Sorry, no fabric info (maybe a worsted wool? Or a man-made knit of some kind?) but it’s a fitted, military inspired jacket with split wrists and button closure.

It’s available in sizes X-small – large, but these are contemporary designers, so make sure to check out the size chart.

Hold onto your hats, because this jacket started at $275, and was marked down to $110.99.  With your 25% off code (xtra25) you too can be military chic for $83.24.  Under 100 bucks. Crazy!

.

.

Also in sizes x-small thru large is this 100% ivory cashmere tunic from Qi  (No, I don’t know how to pronounce it. Sorry.)  Jewel neck, raglan sleeves, looks like its got a diamond kind of a pattern going on except for the hems, and it’ll probably hit about mid-thigh.

Did I mention this is a 100% cashmere dress that was $326?  It’s on sale for $163.99, making your price an outrageous $122.99.  Gah!

.

If any of you pr0nistas out there have a killer bod, don’t wait to pick up Pencey’s “Satin Glass Dress”.  Look carefully to see the seaming detail zig-zaging its way across the dress.

You’re getting a jewel neck, with a scoop back and short sleeves.  I would guess there’s some stretch in this, but again there’s no fabric information (thanks, Wink. :p) so I don’t know.  If you’ve got the body to pull this off in sizes 2-8, it probably won’t matter much.

No longer $319, Satin Glass is on sale for $191.99, minus 25%, making it $143.99.  Incredible!  More than half off!

.

For a smaller (in more ways than one) splurge, I adore this little blue cocktail ring by Rachel Leigh.

Treat yourself to a gold vermeil ring, with a single square crystal.  Originally $110, the ring is now $54.99, and will slide onto your pretty little pr0n hands for a mere $41.25.  Once again, better than half off.

.

I know that in the past I’ve expressed my admiration of Alice & Olivia (haven’t I?), and their Pleated  Trim dress is a good reason why.

In navy blue wool with a silk lining, they’ve pleated the collar, and added a gathered fabric trim.  Remember, fashion is about details, fit and quality.  It’s the Shopping Pr0n trifecta.

Wink sold this for $385, then put it on sale for $192.91.  With your xtra25 code, sizes x-small to medium can have this for $144.74.  (Hmm…I wonder if I could fit into an A&O medium…)

.

One more last unbelievable deal for you.  Now, I know I’ve imparted to you the importance of a proper trenchcoat; Gryphon’s mini-tent trenchcoat is most certainly that.

Here we have details from Wink:  available in sizes xsmall-medium in a 64% cotton and 36% polyester twill, unique zipper closure with 5 large hinge hooks,a back pleat, hip pockets, ¾ sleeves and a pinstripe inner lining. Divine details.

This is a coat to be admired and kept for a very long time.  It’s a three-season investment in your wardrobe.  For this quality, it’s retail price of $460 is hefty, but not outrageous.  But, it’s now on sale for $230.99, take 25% off and have a really fantastic addition to your closet for $173.45.  Under $200.  Seriously, I cannot express to you what a good deal that is.

I’ll let you go, dearest pr0n followers.  I’m so grateful to have you all here, but you’ve got places to go and sales to snatch.  Until next time.

It was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

Pr0n Plus – February 8th Edition

Hello hello, my lovely pr0n potatoes.  Those of you who are pr0n virgins – welcome!  Those of you with a pr0n habit – welcome back!  In this week’s edition of Pr0n Plus: The Very Best Plus Size Fashion, some of the things I’ll be showing you a classic trenchcoat up to a size 18, adorable, soft cotton/spandex lingerie from Kiyonna up to a size 30-32, and the cutest pumps you’ve ever seen, up to a size 16M from Kathryn Kerrigan.  Time’s a-wasting and other people are buying our stuff, my little plumquats, so let’s dig in!

I think I’ll start with my biggest surprise, which was finding out that designer MaxStudio.com sells a size XL, which appears to be a U.S. size 16-18. Since they have lovely clothes and even lovelier sales, this was quite a find.  This is a 100% cashmere short sleeved dress, with bib detail, and ruffles at the sleeve and hem.  Wear it on its own, or with a pair of yummy tights.

In charcoal and heather yellow (love these colors), it’s available up to an XL, heather rust is available up to an L, which is a 14/16.  The size chart looks pretty true to me, but do look for yourself.  I almost forgot – it was originally $228, and it’s now $168 ($100 total gets you free shipping).  Did I mention it’s 100% cashmere?.  They’re out of it in your dear blogger’s size; I checked. :( (MaxStudio.com garments appear to be made in a variety of mostly Asian countries: China, Hong Kong (which is now part of China), and Singapore, from what I can find)

.

This sort of clingy dress calls for a smooth line.  ShoppingPr0nistas are big fans of Gok Wan‘s plus size lingerie and shapewear.  His Divine Outline would work wonderfully under this dress. £45 or about $67 USD, sizes 8 to 32.

If you’re someplace they don’t deliver to  (i.e. the U.S.), make friends with someone in the U.K. and bake them cookies.  Or bug me and I’ll see what I can do.  I can’t see where his line is made, but I’ll poke Char who works over there and see if she’ll tell me.  Oh! And his new collection is coming out February 23rd!  Eeee!  Watch this space.  Well, not this space, but this space.

.

Moving on, munchkins!  That less dress was a tad unforgiving – definitely meant for an hourglass figure.  This next dress, Kilo by PAS, is more forgiving of someone less hourglass and more apple.

It’s hard to see, but this is actually a cream dress with a black heart print (best view here), 97% viscose (like a rayon), 3% spandex with gathering under the bust and sleeve – perhaps for a bit of stretch.  The dress measures 37″ from shoulder to hem – figure accordingly where it’s going to hit on you.  This is so so sexy, and so chic, I had to feature it.

It’s a prime example of the Third Rule of Shopping Pr0n: Good fashion is good fashion at any size.  Over at PinkMarzipan.com, they do appear to ship outside the UK, and they’re selling this dress for £75 or about $110USD.  They have a currency converter onsite, which is nice.  Unfortunately, I can’t find any information about where PAS clothing is made.

.

A great dress demands a great pair of shoes, no – deserves it!  Over at My Lovely Big Feet Blog, where girlfriend knows good shoes, I had seen these scrumptious shoes in blue.  But where she had them linked to,  you couldn’t order them after 2/1/09.  Lucky for you, my pr0n readers, I ran across them at Endless.com.

Pick up Kathryn Kerrigan’s Ames T-straps up to a size 16 M, on sale for $149.40.  These are leather and patent leather, with an adjustable T-strap, and a 2 1/4 curved wedge heel.  Both the outsole and the insole are leather.

Kathryn Kerrigan shoes are handcrafted in Spain, and this particular style is also available in black.  The rest of her line is equally unique and stylish.  Ch-ch-check it out.

.If you

If you don’t necessarily need big, but you do need wide surf over to old standby Nordstrom and try Söfft’s Chrissy pump. Söfft is what we call truth in advertising.  They’re known as a “comfort” brand, so to get styling like this from a comfort brand is genius.

I have to tell you that I have personally tried on these shoes.  They’re 3.5″ heels, which is about 1/2″ higher than your dear pr0n blogger can handle (Yes, I’m a shoe hypocrite.).  So I put these on (and they were comfortable – don’t get me wrong!)  and I was like a Weeble – because “Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down”.  That was me. :D

Anyhoo.  Chrissy is lovely, also available in black leather, from sizes 7-10 Narrow, 5-12 Medium and 1-10 Wide, and has a cushy polyurethane sole.  They’re only $99 smackeroos at Nordy’s. The company is based in Massachusetts, but the shoes appear to be made in China.

.

So you’ve got the great dress, you’re rocking the fabulous shoes, what every fashionista needs in her closet next is a trenchcoat.

From Martin & Osa, a U.S. brand from the same family as American Eagle Outfitters, is this classic styled soft polyester trenchcoat.  Here’s what the site has to say: Fitted silhouette, removable self-belt, double-breasted metal-button placket, rounded collar, hook-and-eye closure,  long sleeves with belts, front pockets, and vented button-tab hem falls above knee.  Whew.

Here’s what I say: this is a great jacket and you’ll have it for years.  Buy it.  Ha.  Martin & Osa do ship internationally.  It goes up to an XXL, which they say is an 18; the measurements look a little small to me, but it’s been a while since I’ve been plus-size so check it out for yourself.  The coat is a new arrival and $170 (with free shipping). Country of origin is tricky to pin down other than “Imported”.  American Eagle Outfitters says that at least 20% of their denim comes from China, so you can assume there’s at least a chance this was made there.

.

Something that I always had the hardest time finding when I was plus-size was chic work clothes: clothing my mother wouldn’t wear (sorry, Pr0nMom!), that I could feel cute in, working in a more business-like environment.

So my eyes bugged out at this Patrizia Tailored Ruffle Jacket and Skirt from Igigi.comI’m a little unhappy because it’s a man-made herringbone tweed, as opposed to say a wool, or wool blend tweed; for the money ($208 for the jacket and $102 for the pants) it should be natural fibers, IMO.

But that being said, it’s a terrific design (your blogger wants one!)  The jacket has princess seams (in fact you can see the exact structure of the jacket at the website, which I’ve never seen at a website before), bracelet length sleeves, and stretch.

The pants have a slight bootcut, a contoured waistband (to hopefully avoid that “gap” in back) with belt loops (seriously pants without belt loops drive me insane); they’re fully lined, and they’re cuffed, which you can always have taken down if you don’t like cuffs.  In theory, both go up to a size 30, but sizes are already sold out or selling fast. Thanks, igigi!  Both pieces were manufactured in the United States.

.II

Last but not least, I bring you comfy, sexy lingerie.  I bring you comfy, sexy lingerie up to a size 30/32!  (How much do you love me?)  Well known line Kiyonna, now has a separate lingerie line, Alectra by Kiyonna.  It’s great to see a range of stuff in a range of sizes.

This is a cami, lounge pants (lounge pants are out of a lot of sizes) and thong in cotton candy with black lace or black with taupe lace.  All pieces in this set are 97% cotton & 3% spandex.

The cami is $26, and goes from an 0X (10-12) to a 3X (22-24) in the cotton candy, and 4X (26-28) in the black.  The lounge pants are $26, and available 0X & 1X in Cotton Candy and 0X to 2X in Black. (International shipping available)

These do sell elsewhere, so look around if they’re out of your size.  The thong is $18, and available up to a 5x (30-32) in both colors.  I have nothing on manufacturing for Alectra; Kiyonna simply says “Imported”.

Well my little starfish, our time together is up.  I do include plus-size clothing in all my posts, but Pr0n Plus, our alone time, comes each weekend.  I save my weekends for you my little plus size pr0ners, because you’re special.

I have no idea what my next post is going to be…but it’ll be something!  Tuesday, perhaps.  Until then, it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?
