Net-A-Porter Super Sale!

Thanks to my friend Grechen, over at Grechen’s Closet, I was tipped off that designer mecca site Net-A-Porter had taken another 20% off their sale prices.  Net-A-Porter definitely runs towards the true designer end of the scale, so even deeply discounted is going to cost you a few pennies.

Doma Stitched Leather Jacket, $242.50, Sz. L

Doma Stitched Leather Jacket, $242.50, Sz. L

But if you’re one of my readers who invests in this type of clothing, or waits for this type of sale to spend your money, there are deals to be had.  I’ve tried to pick out only the most worthwhile to show you.  FYI, all products are linked to via their pictures.

.

At just under half price (was $505), this Doma stitched leather jacket is still a steal.  You’re looking at a red leather collarless jacket with stitched detailing around the neckline.

The jacket has long sleeves, two zipped pockets, a zip athrough the front and is fully lined.  It’s available only in size Large, which is probably going to be around a U.S. 10.  It’s like buttah, and it’s going to be gone in a heartbeat.

Tibi Bow Collar Dress, $177.60, Sz. M,L

Tibi Bow Collar Dress, $177.60, Sz. M,L

Tibi is quickly popping up on my brand radar for their beautiful blouses and dresses in feminine fabrics, colors and styles.  This particular dress reminds me of Milly NYC, which has been a great diappointment to me Spring/Summer.

You all know what a fan I am of retro influenced styles, especially ’60s/mod looks.  This coral mini-dress is made in a heavy jersey with a large bow at the neckline, elbow length sleeves and a side zip.

Sizes medium and large, or about U.S. 8-10 can get this on sale for $177.60, down from $370.  Pictures, please!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Short Wool Coat, $264, Sz. S-L

Marc by Marc Jacobs Short Wool Coat, $264, Sz. S-L

Often you can get a good deal by buying off season.  If you’re good at delayed gratification, buying for next fall or winter is a great idea.

Think how cheery this coral Marc by Marc Jacobs short winter coat will make you when you walk through a sea of black and grey.   Everyone should have a longer formal winter coat, and a shorter casual one.

This was originally $550, but is on sale for $264, and is still available in sizes small, medium and large.  It’s 80% wool, 20% nylon with a back pleat and satin lining.

"Calisten", Cotton/Acrylic Grape Cardigan, $78.45, Sz. L

"Calisten", Cotton/Acrylic Grape Cardigan, $78.45, Sz. L

Since I don’t wear wool, I find it difficult to find really cozy, soft sweaters.  This grape colored cardigan by Malene Birger looks so soft and so comfortable for a size Large.

It’s a cotton/acrylic blend with a round neckline, long sleeves, white beaded buttons and front pockets to keep your well manicured fingers warm. :)

I particularly appreciate the edging at the cuffs and hem, which will help a good sweater keep its shape.  “Calisten” retailed for $245 and is now an incredible buy at only $78.40.

.

I have a confession: I think these Tory Burch Jelly Reva flats are adorable.  I know, I know.  I can’t help it; every fashionista has their weakness.

Tory Burch Jelly Reva Flats, $38, Sz. 8/8.5

Tory Burch Jelly Reva Flats, $38, Sz. 8/8.5

But listen: aside from cobalt blue, sunshine/schoolbus yellow is the color this season.  I snatched up a Dooney & Bourke handbag in the color on sale and I just adore it.  I get complimented on it all the time.

If you wear a size 8/8.5  shoe, these normally $98 flats are on sale for $38! You all are lucky I rarely wear flats, otherwise we’d have to throw down.

Sizing info says to go down half a size if you wear a half size, and they’re available in an 8.

.

Yesterday, I was reminded by my good friend Heidi (who writes a really thoughtful size acceptance blog) that a good handbag is an investment.  Especially if it’s not too trendy, it’s something that you’ll have and use for years.

Mulberry Large Soho Shoulder Bag, $278

Mulberry Large Soho Shoulder Bag, $278

That’s why I’m recommending this Mulberry Large Soho bag, for $278.  To start, you can’t get a good designer bag for $278 unless you’re very lucky.

This is a classic shape in a not-too-trendy color.  Be careful, as it may be a touch more orangey than it appears, depending on your monitor.

Soho has an adjustable shoulder strap, and silver hardware including a turnlock, which is a very safe closure.  The inside is lined in twill.

See here, and check out this picture for a sense of how big it is – it’s definitely roomie, and has a nice drop long enough to be worn on your shoulder.

Best of all – handbags have no size.  Anyone can wear them. :D  Last but not least, for more deals check out The Outnet, Net-a-Porter’s “bargain” little sister.

Thanks for reading, my little pr0n plums!

As always, it was good for me.  Tell me, was it good for you?

Boobalicious Sundresses Under $50

Hi pr0nstars – My you all look lovely today.  I’m having to do a bit of retooling here at the pr0n.  When I started blogging, I did it for the love of fashion, and the love of writing.  Somewhere along the way I got ahead of myself and got burned out.  So I’m going back to my roots (so to speak, of course).  I’m not sure where that is, exactly but it may be a little different than before.  If you’d like to come with me, I’d love that.

Tommy Hilfiger Sleveless Dress - $62 @ Macys

Tommy Hilfiger Sleveless Dress - $62 @ Macys

Today, my friend P_D was writing, and she said that she was having trouble finding a sundress that was flattering for her boobages.  You know, her chesticals.  Her breasts. Being a woman of ample cleavage myself, I understood.  She didn’t want a halter or strapless, or a maxi-dress and she was trying to stay under $50.

I said: Game On.

Just out of her price range is this adorable empire waist navy sundress from Tommy Hilfiger at Macys.  Sizes go up to XL, the straps are wide enough to hide bra straps, and the elastic empire waist stops at your smallest part (emphasizing it), while giving you a little extra breathing room.

Survey says it’s cotton, machine washable and 29″ from mid-back, which is a fine length.  Pick it up today or tomorrow (June 10-11) and use code SAVEMORE at checkout, and the price comes down to between $53.25 and $50.12 – exactly in her price range.  Win!

MaxStudio.com Flutter Sleeve Boat Neck Dress $68

MaxStudio.com Flutter Sleeve Boat Neck Dress $68

One of my favorite places to look for reasonable summer dresses is MaxStudio.com .  If you hang around long enough, you can get a really good bargain on pretty, colorful, floaty dresses.  I picked out two, starting with the Flutter-Sleeve Boat Neck Dress on the left.

What I think sets this dress apart from similar styles is that the bodice isn’t elasticized; it’s actually pleated, with a tie in the back.  Again, that’s going to give you and your “girls” breathing room if you need it, and then just float away from your body.

The pattern is so pretty, and it should be a really flattering style on a variety of body types. An XL here is about a 16/18.  Check their size charts, which are pretty accurate.

MaxStudio.com - Embroidered Sheath Dress, $98

MaxStudio.com - Embroidered Sheath Dress, $98

The second one is definitely out of her price range,  but maybe someone else here can give this dress a good home.

This straight A-Line style is going to look best on someone with less of a defined waist and/or more of a tummy to hide.  If you’ve got great legs, but a little more in the middle this shape will hide the bad and show the good.

I’m drooling over the rich cornflower blue, scalloped neckline (with straps which will let you wear a real bra), and embroidery detail.  At 26″ from the waist this would be perfectly appropriate for a casual office environment with a little jacket or sweater over it.

It’s only available in a Large and Extra-Large, so please – won’t you give this dress a stable, loving home in your closet?  For only pennies a day, you too can save a sundress.

.

Kavu Westbay Dress, $62 @ Zappos

Kavu Westbay Dress, $62 @ Zappos

I included this $62 empire waist dress from Zappos.com, because it’s eco-friendly, has wide straps with bra strap stays, an elastic back, and comes in two colors: red and blue.

The size chart isn’t available, but it goes up to an XL, which I’d consider about a 16 typically.  Also Zappos has free overnight shipping on clothing, and free returns. They’re known for really good customer service.

.

NY&Co. City Stretch Tiered Dress, $29.95

NY&Co. City Stretch Tiered Dress, $29.95

Diving back comfortably into P_D’s requested price range is a super comfy looking dress from NY & Co., which is the same company as Limited and Express, just a different demographic.  That means the sizing is going to be different; in this case, more generous.

Check out this pull over v-neck tiered dress. It’s got the same elastic empire waist, with cap sleeves, and hits above the knee.  Heck, I’m tempted to try this sundress myself.  For P_D I like the purple, but it also comes in orange, white and black.  Did I mention it’s on sale for $29.95?  No?  My bad.  It also comes in color-blocks for just a few bucks more.

.

Smocked Scoopneck Embroidered Dress, $29.90, Ann Taylor Loft

Smocked Scoopneck Embroidered Dress, $29.90, Ann Taylor Loft

Way back when, I predicted that cobalt blue was going to be huge this season.  I don’t want to brag or anything, but I was right.  My favorite dress may be this cobalt blue Smocked Scoopneck from Ann Taylor Loft.

The color is so pretty, and the style is so easy and comfortable for summer – at $29.99 it’s a steal.  One thing to keep in mind is that the dress is just shy of 20″ from the natural waist – short.  It’s only in a size small online, but they have a “in-store finder” online.  Good luck! Godspeed!

.

C & C California jersey 'Brita' tank dress, $50.40 @Bluefly

C & C California jersey 'Brita' tank dress, $50.40 @Bluefly

I’ll show you one more sundress tonight.  Squeeking in at $50.40 is the C&C California breeze jersey tank dress.

This is the best type of dress – throw it on with a pair of sandals and a floppy brimmed hat (and sunscreen) and you’re out the door.  Funk it up with some cool accessories and maybe a cardigan.

Bluefly.com is selling it in several pretty shades of blue and green, including “honeydew”, shown.

.

As you can see my little pr0n pickles, every body type can find something flattering at their price point, without sacrificing quality or style.  It just takes a little patience and determination.

My aces up the sleeve are TheFind.com and ShopStyle.com, which are fabulous for letting you search for a particular kind of item, by store or price or manufacturer or color.  Let your fingers do the walking! And as in all my posts, pictures link back to the product for your shopping ease.

Recession Pr0n

Hi Pr0nsters, I’m slowly recovering from my flu hell, and figured if I was sitting on my couch anyway, I’d bring you some lovely bright pr0n, all under $100! In today’s post I have the most divine purple top you’ve ever seen, a turquoise knotted shirt up to 3X, an organic cami and pantie set from Etsy, and a bright blue button down men’s shirt just to name a few. Let’s dive in.

.

$79.00

$79.00 by Shar Dann

I’ve been looking for an excuse to show you this top since I found it…which was a while ago.  Via SmashingDarling.com, which specializes in indie designers, Shar Dann is hand making this absolute piece of art.  It’s made out of Modal/Cotton/Lycra, with a Silk applique.

The last time I featured SmashingDarling was during Eco Friendly Pr0n, when I showed you designer Gina Michelle and her bamboo dresses.

I’m in awe of how this top is gathered and sewn; I can’t believe it isn’t twice the price it is. This is purple; it’s also available in Berry and Black, up to XL, which is a size 16.  I’m tempted to find a place for it in my own wardrobe.

.

If you’re a devoted Pr0nista,  you know by now that I believe good fashion has so much to do with detail.  A twist on a simple design can make a boring shirt exciting. For example this turquoise knotted front top from Missphit.

$36 at Missphit

$36 at Missphit

For only $36 my fuller figure pr0n friends can have this lovely turquoise top up to a size 3x.  What’s so great about the shape of this top is that it’s going to work on you whether you have a waistline or not.

The v-neck is going to draw the eye down and create the illusion of a longer/slimmer neck. Then it knots in every woman’s smallest place: right under the bust.

If you have a little waist, this will just make it look better, and if you don’t, this will just hide your tummy and make it seem like you have one.

Wear it with khakis or a casual skirt or jeans and a pair of heels, and accessorize with a great necklace or a pair of dangly earrings…

.

Was $225, now $95

…and take with you this adorable fuchsia (I spell that wrong every single time) clutch from Lina Pelle that I found on sale at Luna Boston.

(Surprisingly, the last Luna Boston bag I showed you is still available. Just not under $100.)

Most of what’s over at Luna is so very very pr0nish, including Linea Pelle, which is a luxury leather line, so finding this on sale is a true find.  As I’m sure you can imagine, it’s available in limited quantities – especially when you see the zebra striped lining. Couldn’t you just die?

Luna says “Danielle” is a soft buttery leather with funky silver-tone hardware, and measures 11.5″w x 6.5″h x 1″d – enough for your cellphone, ID/money case, lipstick and condoms. (I’m just saying. A true pr0nista protects herself.)

.

Accessories are so important, aren’t they, dumplings? I like to accessorize with a lovely man on my arm.  Maybe he’s even wearing this aqua blue-with white squares “Chillin Villian” shirt?

In my travels I’ve learned that apparently men aren’t supposed to wear bright colors.  No wonder men dress poorly; they’re bored witless!

Luckily Tobi has this shirt for you.  They’re calling it green; I say aqua blue.  Toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe.  What matters is that it’s 100% cotton, made in India, and fits true to size up to an XL.  The gentleman to my right is wearing a large; you can see his measurements by clicking on the picture.

.

Was $158, now $79.95

For crisp, cool summer dresses, you can find me trolling the racks at Anthropologie, and I’ll be trying on the Missouri Primrose Shift.

In cobalt blue cotton, with a cotton lining and silk flowers climbing up the side, where won’t you go in this dress?

Put it on with a pair of casual sandals during the day, and change into a dressier pair at night with a delicate bracelet and a cardigan – maybe in red or green.

Its available in regular or petite sizes 2-12 still! Go on – time’s a wasting!

.

Cami $24, Hipster Panties $14

Cami $24, Hipster Panties $14

To stay cool and comfy, slide into this organic cotton cami/pantie set that Louella Bloom sells on Etsy.

I’ve shown them here in plum, but they’re also available (on sale) in yellow, as well as gray, black, and cream, also as a thong, panti and nightie.

The best part to me is that they’re tagless! If you have sensitive skin like your dear blogger, this should be music to your ears.

For something a bit fancier, see the organic silk set I had, also in Eco Pr0n.

.

Lovely pron friends, there is a time and a place for plaid. That place is not on your man’s shorts or pants.  It is, however on his sneakers.

These raspberry/blue plaid converses are scrumptious and perfectly appropriate with a pair of easy fitting shorts or jeans or khakis.

You can even wear it with something like the blue and white shirt above, just don’t go crazy. Keep it to one additional color, and you’ll be fine.

.

Finally, just as I started with something I needed an excuse to share, I’m going to end with the same. (Really this whole blog is just an excuse to share things I like, but who’s asking?)

Was $280, now $84

Was $280, now $84

I adore Milly New York. I’d roll around in her line if it could (This is pr0n after all.)  The colors she uses, combined with the classic, feminine shapes, attention to detail, quality fabrics and slight retro winks make this blogger’s heart go pitter-pat.

This red button pleat shirt from Shop Twigs is a prime example. If you lean in a bit,  you can see the jacquard pattern woven into the Italian wool.

It’s 95% wool with a 100% silk lining, and it falls 19″ from the natural waist.  Just imagine it with gray tights and a pair of flat knee-high boots (like these Bandolinos $89.95!).

The front pleat is known as a reverse pleat (because it’s reversed, see?).  Normally pleats = bad; in this case, pleats = good.   The skirt is made in NY and only available in sizes 4,6,8, but what a deal you’re getting! Have I really not shown you any Milly yet? Shame on me!

I hope you found something today to add to your closet.  If not, just wait a day or two; there’ll be more! Don’t forget, every Monday is now a new edition of Pr0n Plus!

As always, it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

Sales Pr0n – Dying of the Flu Edition

Thanks for coming back my pr0n muffins.  I’m dying of the flu and wanted to make sure I showed you these sales before I did.  If I trail off mid-outfit, just administer apple juice.

I once read that everybody loves a parade; I’m not sure how they reached that conclusion.  Frankly I’d like to see their research methodology,

Originally $395, now $198

Originally $395, now $198

but my point being that everybody likes a sale.  Feel free to insert the comment of your choice about the recession here.  Kind of like those Choose Your Own Adventure Books I used to read.

Remember the Fourth Rule of Shopping Pr0n: Just because something is 75% off, does not mean you need it.  It’s very much related to the First Rule. Almost Rule 1a.  My father taught me to ask myself this before buying something: Where will I wear it? If you don’t know, no matter how fabulous it is, put it back.

Take for instance this butter yellow cropped leather motorcycle jacket from Domaleather.  Let’s look closely: slightly puffed shoulders, stitching detail at the neck and along the zipper, angled front pockets, 3/4 length sleeves with an elastic wrist, and a slim cropped fit.

RevolveClothing is selling this jacket in yellow (sizes M,L) and dark violet (which I might actually like more, size M only).  This piece of art was originally $481 and is now $241.

Half off leather. *cries*  Someone please buy this and send me a picture so I can pretend I’m you.

.

Now here’s something you will wear over and over and over:  From Thomas Pink‘s “Richard Nicholl’s Collection” is this “Ruth” women’s dress.

The image is crap, so click to see the full size one.  This really is classic design at its best.  Thomas Pink is top quality and style.

This is a 100% cotton shirt dress with trims on cuffs, pockets and hem, a  pleated bib (just what you’d think it would be), roll up sleeves, self fabric covered buttons and detachable fabric belt.  It looks gray, but it’s actually a black pinstripe.

These are UK sizes, but their handy dandy size chart will conveniently convert you. For future reference they go up to a U.S. size 18, but the highest this dress is in stock is a 16. Why? Well it was first selling for $500 (yes, that’s right) and it’s now $189. At better than half price, remember the Second Rule of Shopping Pr0n: Get it while it lasts.  Supplies are limited, first come, first served.

.

Now, almost all – if not all – of the shoes I’ve shown you here on the Pr0n (as I like to call it) have been heels.  Often very high heels.  (You know what they say: the higher the heel, the closer to God), but that’s really only because I haven’t found flats pr0nish enough to meet my standards for you, muffins!  I care!  Look at these and tell me they’re not the cutest things you’ve ever seen (go on – tell me.).

“Foxy Ballerina” from Marc by Marc Jacobs; once these beauties were $425, now they’re $213. And if you had $213, wouldn’t you spend it on these fuchsia (so hard to spell) or charcoal patent leather flats?

They’re actually a 1″ heel, which is better for your feet, and have a fox ear detail at the vamp with a square toe.  They’re available for your foxy pleasure at Bergdorf Goodman.

.

But really, really what makes my heart go pitter pat are a pair of drool inducing heels, like these at ShopBop.com.  Please ignore the idiotic caption on the website; what you need to know is that these are “Folded Ornament Wedges” from Leopoldo Giordano.  If I ever meet Leo, I’d like to hug him. That’s all.  Just a hug.

It goes down like this: 4″ patent leather wedges in Blue or Taupe (get the Blue), made in Italy. Marked down from $545, these shoes-of-a-lifetime can be yours for $163.50.

There’s a tab detail at the vamp, and if you look closely you can see a seam detail along the heel.  If you go to the website you can look at the shoe from all angles. *giggles*  (No, you don’t need to tell me I lack maturity.  I know.)

.

Really good fashion is all about details.  Details and quality.  Details, quality and fit.  Never mind – before this turns into the Spanish Inquisition, let’s look at this zip front skirt by Michen, which has all 3.

Take a beautiful wool/nylon/cashmere pencil skirt with a silk lining, add a waistband with a tortoise shell colored button, a bit of pleating just to kick it up a notch, and a zipper running on the diagonal, and you’ll have this skirt.

If you’re a size 4 or 6, head over to Tobi.com and plunk down your $150 for a half off skirt.  This beautiful skirt is made in the U.S.A. used to be $301.

.

.

One of the things I love, especially on bigger women, is a beautiful, large print in a bold color.   Apparently the stylists at American Idol agreed, because they used this Diva Halter in red from Missphit.

.Admittedly, I find the clothing at Missphit hit or miss, but their hits are bullseyes, and so are their prices. This was originally $45, and it’s now $32.

This chiffon high neck halterneck actually has a full front and back lining so your not showing anything you don’t intend to (*cough*) and a smocked bottom band. It’s sized (and available) 1x-3x, which Missphit says is about a 14w to 24W.  Can’t miss.

.

.There’s another saying (Yes, another saying. Deal.): into every man’s life a little cashmere must fall.  That’s right isn’t it? If you or someone you know needs a little cashmere to fall into his life, head on over to Bluefly.com.

If you’re a small or an extra-large, you’re in luck!  Imagine slipping into this charcoal/silver/blue basketweave v-neck sweater by ADAM.

Original price: $375, the actual retail price of your showcase sweater is $179.99 for a small, $109.99 for an XL (No clue, don’t ask.)

.

.

My friend and reader, Rachel, turned me on to LunaBoston.com, which is filled to the brim with different brands of handbags, shoes and accessories.  Bright color is everywhere for spring, and it’s all over Lorelai’s “Madison” tote.

Madison comes in green only, with a bright pink fabric lining.  Black and yellow sold out, and green is apparently available only in very limited quantities so don’t hesitate if you love this bag (Damn. I really should be on QVC.)

.

.Men should not be afraid of a little color either.  Take for instance this 1960s blazer from Juicy Couture. Now, can we all agree that this is in fact a nice blazer, and not over the top? Thank you. It’s just that my friend Deka over at That’s Hideous, found these truly atrocious Juicy ski goggles., and felt the need to denigrate Juicy. *snif*. So I felt the need to show her some very subdued Juicy.

I’d be happy to go on a date with any man wearing this blazer.  It’s nice, it’s purple and I like purple, it’s stylish and proves he put some thought into his outfit, and it’s Juicy!  Someone I’m on a date with wearing Juicy? Bonus!  Either he dresses well or knows how to find someone who does, which is equally valid.

Anyway, they’re calling this burgundy, and cotton.  It looks like corduroy to me, but it could just be a nubby cotton (yeah, i know corduroy is cotton).  It once was $218, and it’s now $163.

.

Before we wrap up, you must see this organic cotton and bamboo “Alison” dress from Sublet.

One thing you should know about your blogger is that she has ridiculously sensitive skin.  I wear very little wool, no angora or lambswool (which I guess is a type of wool).  Your dear blogger only wears cotton, silk, cashmere, or soft synthetics.  So I’m adoring all the new clothing that’s coming out in organic cotton and bamboo. Bamboo!  Who knew?

This dress is just sexy as all get out.  It does have a deep v-neck, so if you can’t wear stick-on boobies or similar, put a silk or cotton cami underneath.  This is beautiful detailing that is great to expose an upper body and camouflage what’s going on below the waist.

Oh – the site I found it at is The Green Loop.com.  They were selling the dress for $242, and it’s now $121 in black.  Made in the U.S.A.

.

It wouldn’t be pr0n without lingerie (plus it gets me site hits).  I searched high and low for some lovely cotton lingerie on sale, but it was not to be found.  So we’ll skip the sale and go for the comfy and sexy  from sheandme.com .

How yummy are these boyshorts that are solid in the front and pattern in the back, with a little lace trim?  The solid comes in pomegranete, ivory, mocha, navy, chocolate and sienna. 94% modal, 6% spandex, made in the U.S.A $30

Happy bargain hunting, my little pr0nistas!

As always, it was good for me; tell me: was it good for you?
