Related Pr0n: I Won on Polyvore!

We interrupt this shopping blog for a very special announcement: I WON!  From time to time you’ve seen me use this really nifty website Polyvore to show you lots of products at once, or an entire outfit altogether.  Polyvore lets you snatch bits o’ the web and put them together along with bits o’  the web that everyone else has snatched.

For instance, I used it when showing you How to Dress for Your Body Type  if you’re a pear shape; I used it when we were talking about Stretching Your Closet , to show you the outfit I’d pulled together from my own closet, and again when I was asking for your help the the very same dress in Dress this Mess.  I even managed to eek out a couple of men’s outfits when talking about Sample Sales and Sunday Brunch Outfits, and to show you how to (properly) dress like Michelle Obama. Oh, heck.  Just click the Polyvore tag and go wild!

.

But aside from being a really helpful tool for bloggers, it’s just a lot of fun, and lets you express your artistic or fashion skillz in a different way.

>
Just today your dear blogger WON a contest!  Through the Bloggers on Polyvore group, my set took first prize in the “Submit Your Best Set” contest.  here it is:

.

Yay! I’m really proud of my little set, but I can’t overlook some of my other favorites, too:

.

So if you’ve ever wondered what could possibly drag your dear blogger away from you, my favorite little pr0n pomegranates – it’s this… I’m playing with all my sets in Polvore.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Shopping Pr0n, with Pr0n Plus: the very best in plus size fashion, hopefully coming tonight.

.
Until then: it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

Exclusive! 20% off Plus Size Fashion & Lingerie

Pr0nsters, have you ever thought to yourself, “I’m special. I deserve special things just for me?”  If so, your time has come. Because you’re all special, I have an exclusive sales code worth 20% off at Simply Yours and Simply Be.

If you’re new to the Pr0n, or need a refresher Simply Yours is a fantastic UK site for plus size lingerie and shapewear, featuring the really gorgeous stuff by Gok Wan.  Simply Be is the clothing and accessories end of the bizzness: they’re the  lovely people who gave us a sneak peek at their Spring clothing line.

.

Beach2Beach Underwired Swimsuit, 27.20

Beach2Beach Underwired Swimsuit, £27.20/$39.36

What haven’t I shown you yet?  How about a dreamy retro-styled underwire swimsuit?

Not only is this Beach2Beach swimsuit available in red and black in a huge range of back/cup sizes, but it can be worn as a halter or a bandeau!  I think that is the coolest thing ever.  Then again I’m easily impressed.

When you get to checkout, enter KLUY4 for 20% off! (Price I show includes discount).  The site may offer you 10% off for being a new customer do not put this code in your bag, put our code in intead. :)

.
Footwear!  I didn’t even realize they sold footwear (clearly I don’t look very closely), but my pal Charlotte tells me that our code is good on clothing, lingerie/shapewear and footwear (probably accessories, too).

Viva La Diva Peep Toe Pump 24

Viva La Diva Peep Toe Pump £24/$34.75

I swear I will not show you patent leather shoes today!  Really.  Okay, I lied.  But you have to see these Viva La Diva taupe faux patent leather booties.

The heel is three and a quarter inches with a peep toe,  and they go up to a EEE Width!  Pop these puppies in your cart, take 20% off with code KLUY4 and pay only $35!!  Wow!

>

Remember when I was talking about trenchcoats (You do remember)? Well, if you’re in the market for an adorable versatile trench, feast your eyes on this Mac with Pocket detail.

Mac with Pocket Detail, 46.40/

Mac with Pocket Detail, £46.40/$67.21

The jacket is cotton/nylon, with a nylon lining, it’s 36″ long, sells in black and ivory and has the cutest little ruching on the pockets.

According to Simply Be it’s a best seller, so if you want this, act fast!  Like all their products, it’s available in sizes 14-32.  I need something like this.  *pouts*

.
Let’s look at lingerie.  I’m such a brand junkie, always showing you the Gok Wan.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but there’s more to Simply Yours than just Gok!  For instance they sell bras from sizes 30A to 50 JJ!  If you’ve got boobs, they’ve got bras!  They also have fantastic bra fit advice & videos.  Most women wear the wrong bra – are you one of them?

.

Dreamgirl Babydoll, 30.40

Dreamgirl Babydoll, 30.40

You’re sure to spend your money wisely if you spend it on Dreamgirl’s Babydoll & matching thong.  That’s some hot stuff right there.

The baby doll is actually a mesh underwired halter with front lace-up and ruffle detailing; I love that most of the lingerie and shapewear and swimwear pieces on Simply Yours are underwire.

Even those of us who are not plus-size, but are…amply endowed *cough* would like for our bust line to be front and center, please and thank you.  I’m just saying.

Let’s talk Gok Wan.  Why? Because we like him. With 20% off (Code KLUY4), I’m eyeing some shapewear.  This winter was not kind to your blogger, and she could use some, er, shaping.  Celebrities’ dirty little secret is that they wear this sort of thing all the time. And then get photoshopped.  But shapewear!

I don’t think I’ve shown you Gok Wan’s Sassy Slip.  It’s sassy!  It’s also gorgeous.  What you’re getting is a mid-thigh length full shaping slip, with attached underwire bra, and internal suspenders which attach to stockings (not included).

Gok Wan's Sassy Slip, 44/$63.67

Gok Wan's Sassy Slip, £44/$63.67

I want the Passion color (shown) even though it would show under most of my spring summer dresses.  I don’t care.

The size range for Sassy is from a 30-32 C -G, 34-40G, 42-44 A-E and 46A-C (If you don’t see your size, it’s possible they’re out of it.  Call and ask.)

.

Frill Front Jersey Top, 20/$28.97
Frill Front Jersey Top, 20/$28.97

Don’t hesitate when you see Simply Be’s Frill Front Top.  Put it in your cart and use code KLUY4 for 25% off.

What’s great about pieces like this that are casual with special detail is that they can be dressed up – under a suit – or down, with a pair of jeans.

If you’re going to spend money on t-shirts, make it shirts like this that have interest and thought behind them.  I wish they came in more colors than black and cream, but you can’t go wrong with either of those.

.
We’re at the end my little pr0n pistachios. The “Oh, By the Way” Gods have insisted I let you know

  1. The sales code, KLUY4, is good through April 15,
  2. They don’t deliver to the U.S. yet, just the U.K. and Europe.  If you’re interested in buying and live in the U.S email me: shoppingpr0n@gmail.com, and I’ll see if I can help you.
  3. There is no pay for play on Shopping Pr0n.  You people must be buying from there, because Charlotte keeps sending us things.  Keep up the good work!

I’ve got one more super post I’m working on: how to dress for your body type, which will be the first in a series.  The first one will be on pear shapes and I hope to have it finished tonight or tomorrow.  Stay tuned!

Until then, it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

Pr0n Plus: Spring Basics Edition

La Canadienne Stella, $225.68

La Canadienne Stella, $225.68 at Zappos

Happy Spring, Northern Hemisphere!  I’m afraid this blog is a bit Northern-Hemisphere-centric.  I’m a day late with this week’s Pr0n Plus, but I think it’s a good one.  In today’s Shopping Pr0n, we’re going to look at spring wardrobe basics.

I’ll be showing plus size styles, but these are items which should and can go in anyone’s closet: a spring coat, a cotton shirt, pants, sweater, a day dress, and some cute comfy shoes.

.

The first thing everyone needs for spring is a raincoat.  You can sing “Rain rain go away” to your heart’s content, but it doesn’t seem to do much good.

Standing Collar Trench, $54.99 at Target

Standing Collar Trench, $54.99 at Target

Pears/Hourglasses and apples have different needs for coats.  (How do you know if you’re a pear or an apple?  Do you have a defined waist?  No?  You’re an apple.

Do you have Bette Davis eyes thighs?  You’re a pear.) When buying coats, a pear actually doesn’t necessarily want to define a waist.

Look at this classic belted trenchcoat from Target.  Yes, Target.  For a pear or hourglass is that once you cinch the belt, it over-emphasizes what’s happening down below, and you look lumpy and heavier than you are.

For an apple, this helps define what you don’t have much of.  Since there’s less inch difference beween chest, waist and butt, the belt will emphasize, not over-emphasize.

.
.
Pears (for the rest of this post, just extend pear advice to hourglasses), try something like this fun “Rainy Day Mac” from Boden.

Rainy Day Mac, $138 at Boden

Rainy Day Mac, $138 at Boden

Don’t worry about your waist – it’s not going anywhere.  The key is to deemphasize the “booty area” (it’s a technical term).

.
By wearing something that doesn’t chop you off in the middle, you look sleek and svelte.  Boden goes up to a UK size 20 (US 18ish), and they have this style in a few other patterns.

.
What I love about Boden’s website is that they show you how much stock they have left for each color and size.
.
..
.
Working from the outside in, you’re going to want a day dress: something you can dress up for work, and dress down on the weekend.  I love this tie-back dress from Donna Ricco.
.
Donna Ricco Tie Back Dress, $168

Donna Ricco Tie Back Dress, $168

Big prints are great for plus-sizes; it’s a matter of proportion.  Also, this type of tie-back, or similar wrap-dress is going to flatter lots of body types.

.
Not everyone has a small waist, but the smallest part of every woman’s body is almost always under her bust.  Add an adjustable top to an empire waist and it’s genius.
.
Remember that you can always put a cami on underneath if there’s too much boobage (also a technical term).
..
..

Every woman must must must (must) have in her closet a simple button down shirt, a pair of casual pants, and a colorful cardigan.

Gap Dobby Striped Roll-Up Shirt, $48

Gap Dobby Striped Roll-Up Shirt, $48

These three pieces can be mixed and matched with nearly everything else in your closet, will never go out of fashion, and can be bought nearly anywhere to suit your individual style.

Simply Be Combat Pants, 32p

Simply Be Combat Pants, 32p

I’ve chosen a white cotton roll-up shirt from the Gap, a pair of pants from Simply Be, and a cardigan from Pink Marzipan.

The Gap has practically made its name on basics like this; their XXL is a size 18 or 20.  J. Crew goes up to a 16 on many products, as does Banana Republic.

PAS Knitted Cardigan In China Blue- Poro, 64p

PAS Knitted Cardigan In China Blue- Poro, 64p

For a lower price point, try Macy’s or Target or H&M.  Oh!  This summer (I think), Forever21 is coming out with a plus size line.  Yay!  Hopefully it will be the same kind of “knock-off trendy” as the original.

One point about this style of cardigan/sweater: it has the potential to be very cute on both apples and pears, but pears have to be careful.

If it doesn’t look right, it’ll wind up making you look pregnant.  If it does look right, it’ll look cute and flowy.  I’m a pear and I bought similar a few weeks ago, but the style rarely works on me.

.
It is my sincere belief that every woman should own at least one pair of red shoes.  These Vaneli flats are very similar to a pair of Eccos I splurged on and have never regretted.

Vaneli Indo Flat, $54.97 at Endless

Vaneli Indo Flat, $54.97 at Endless

They’ve got a slight heel (much better for you than plain flats), and cushy, flexible rubber soles.  You’ll get compliments on them nearly every time you wear them.  Dinsquared guaranteed.

These puppies are on clearance for $54 and change at Endless. com, and they’re still available in lots  of narrow and wide sizes up to a 10.

You need a pair of shoes that aren’t sneakers that are still comfortable to walk around in: to a friend’s house, to lunch, to the mall.  I can wear my Eccos for hours.; these Vaneli’s look pretty comfy, too.

Jimmy Choo "Clue" at Nordstrom

Jimmy Choo "Clue" at Nordstrom

By the way, did you know that Jimmy Choo’s go up to a size 11.5/12?  I certainly didn’t.
.
Jimmy Choo’s really don’t have anything specific to do with spring, but they’re fabulous and come in a large size, so I’m showing them to you.  Aren’t they fabulous?
..

That’s all the time we have together today my little pr0n popcorn.  I have more post ideas than I have time to do them all.

.

I hope to bring you a post on women’s suits, a series dressing for your body type, a series on how to make a wardrobe out of your closet, a post on coats…oy!  Please stay with me, won’t you?
.
Until next time, it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

Outfits of the Day Pr0n: Michelle Obama & You

Welcome to the weekend, pr0n pineapples!  On Monday we had 6-8″ of snow here in Washington, DC; this weekend it may hit 75.  Change she is a coming.  Change is coming to the White House too, where First Lady Michelle Obama wore a black velvet pants suit to a White House dinner Wednesday!

Today in Shopping Pr0n we’ll look at that suit, and the fashion she wore to volunteer later in the week, and I’ll show you options for wearing both styles on your own.  Yay!

Michelle Obama Velvet Pantsuit & Flats

Michelle Obama Velvet Pantsuit & Flats

Okay, how cute are they?  Have you ever seen a happier First Couple?  Anyway, I give Michelle lots and lots of fashion points here (I can give fashion points to whomever I want. They’re my points.)  Even if I think the outfit is a touch boring, I applaud her for wearing something fashionable and comfortable.  Never let anyone tell you that looking stylish has to be uncomfortable, poppies!  It simply isn’t so.

I like the cut of the suit, and I think it fits her well although I’m not a huge fan of the skinny ankle/baggy thigh thing that’s going on here.  I like the 3/4 length sleeves, the cuff bracelet, and the brooch.  Where the outfit loses me is the black thing that’s underneath.  I really would have liked something else here, maybe a blouse  or a cami, but not more black.

What are your options for wearing this style?  Let’s look.

Doin' It Obama Style

Pant Suit Options - Based on Mrs. Obama's Black Velvet Pant Suit

Remember that velvet is usually a winter fabric, and it’s tough to wear.  It’s a testament to how fit the First Lady is that she makes this work.  What I’ve found are several well cut tuxedo jackets and pants, all available at Bluefly.com.  Most of these are in  “sateen”, which will look crisp and a little shiny.  A little shiny is okay for evening.

For underneath, the one piece of all black I chose is this incredible stretch satin black bustier from D&G by Dolce & Gabbana.  The pink and gold lace camisoles are both from Leigh Bantivoglio at Bluefly.com.  There’s a wide selection and they’re all stunning.

Also take a moment to see the Armani Collezioni Asian Print Camisole at Nordstrom.  We should all be so lucky to have one exquisite piece like this.  Finally I chose a super long double strand of grey pearls – but anything delicate and/or shiny would work- and a couple of fun brooches.

It’s actually a super easy look to put together according to your style preferences and price point.  Wear any delicate shoe: dressy sandals, flats or heels, preferably in black or a metallic.

.
On Thursday, Mrs. Obama volunteered her time serving food at Miriam’s Kitchen, an invaluable resource in Washington that provides meals, case management services and housing support.   Michelle almost hit 100%, wearing a v-neck pink cardigan with a white ruffled shirt underneath, a pair of black pants, and a red and clear belt with brown pumps.

Michelle Obama's outfit at Miriam's Kitchen

Michelle Obama's outfit at Miriam's Kitchen

I love the look of this outfit.  She’s chic and casual and looks very much her. The cardigan is a great color for her, I like the contrast of the white shirt against her skin, and the pants (which you can see here) are a good style and fit.  But the belt.  OH the belt.  WHY???  What IS that???  It’s clear and it’s red and it’s awful!  I thought stuff like that went out in the ’80s!  I weep, pr0n stars. I weep.

Let’s look at how easy this outfit is to put together on your own.

Michelle Obama in Pink

Recreating First Lady's Outfit from Miriam's Kitchen

I found a bright pink plus-size v-neck cardigan from Calvin Klein at Bloomingdales, brown wool wide-leg pants at Bluefly from Susana Monaco, the white ruffle shirt is Banana Republic.  I have to talk about these shoes!  I want these shoes!  They’re from SimplySoles.com, and the designer is Chie Mihara.  “Saco” is $99, they’re 3.5″ heels, made in Spain and OMG they’re near my house! *squeals with delight*  Sorry, I digress.  The belt is Cole-Haan, from Nordstrom.  Cole-Haan knows leather.

Actually, everything in this set is under $100, except for the pants which are $101 and change, I think.  You could get every piece here for under $50 – piece of cake.  Try Target, try H&M, try the Limited, and stalk sales.

Just the other day I was at Loehmann’s and I got my very first piece of Lily Pulitzer: a sweater in the same pink as above which retailed for $158; I got it for $40.  Patience and persistence are virtues. :)

.Congratulations!  Now you look just like Michelle Obama!  Or…mostly.  Except for that whole First Lady thing.

Anyway!  I hope you enjoyed this “White House to Your House” edition of Outfit of the Day Pr0n.  Check out more First Lady Fashion in White House Portrait Pr0n, White House Pr0n and Inaugural Pr0n.

As always, it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

Color Pr0n: Spring Fashion Color Trends

TBags Batwing Jersey Dress $106 at Bluefly

TBags Dress $106 at Bluefly

Hi pr0n stars!  Spring is about to…spring!  We’re about to spring forward, it’s time for spring cleaning, a young man’s fancy turn to love, and according to my sources color is back.  I don’t know where it went, but I’m glad to see it.  I have so much color to show you today: lemony yellows, coraly corals, and rosy pinks, just to name a few.

I’ve been beating the drum about how big cobalt blue is going to be this season, and (as usual) I’m right!  Check out this delightful cotton jersey dress by Tbags.  It’s got a deep v-neck (you can always throw a cami under it), ruched shoulders and bustline, and this marvelous abstract/floraly green, cobalt and orange print.  Throw on a cardigan and a pair of flats and try wearing it to work.

This style is so flattering and forgiving; whether you’re trying to camoflauge a tummy, or hips, or thighs and a rear – this dress is just going to skim right over your problem area, open up your neck and face and make you look great.

.

I broke out my new toy again.  I love toys!  People tend to shy away from yellow and orange, when in fact they can be extremely flattering colors.  In the middle is a buttery yellow raincoat by Alice and Olivia; this heavyweight cotton is a perfect fabric for Spring.

Orange you glad you're not a lemon?

Center, going clockwise: Alice + Olivia jacket $303, TopShop USA shoes $110, Rebecca Beeson Tunic $29.99, Kate Spade Tote $221, Kate Spade Hobo $275, Nanette Lepore jacket, $249

I love the contrast coral buttons, and I found lots more coral.  To the left is the Nanette Lepore cotton “Come Together” jacket; the ribbon will help create or accentuate a waist, and along with the 3/4 length sleeves it will also draw up the eye .

On the right is a bright red Rebecca Beeson cotton tunic – again, a tunic style  that skims over like this will camoflauge a multitude of sins.  The shirt just looks so comfy, doesn’t it?

I’ve paired everything with coral chandelier earrings by Amrita Singh because almost everyone can wear coral (check out the little hearts!), and adorable lace-up “Jasmine” pumps from TopShop USA that come in two other colors.  More color!

Finally, two great Kate Spade bags; Union Square Opus in yellow is a structured hobo style  that also includes an adjustable shoulder strap (two bags for the price of one!)  and comes in lots of other cheery colors; Tamarind Cove Kyle is a nubby cotton tote that also comes in navy.  Collect both. :)

.

Pink is the New Black

L to R: BCBG blouse, $113; Rachel Pally dress $248, Milly sweater $202, Kate Spade case $125, Oliver Bonas Necklace £6, Coach bag $358, Costume National skirt, 198.

Okay, there’s a lot to look at in this set, pr0n petunias!  In the middle is Rachel Pally’s “Carrie” dress, which comes in sizes 14-24.  (This is Pomegranate. See it in Baltic and Blossom @ Nordstrom); to the right is my favorite designer, Milly, with a Cashmere Rugby Polo Sweater from Revolve Clothing; back on the left is a BCBG flutter sleeve pleated blouse (WANT THESE TWO), available at Bluefly.

If you’ve got the legs, show them off in this hot pink pleated mini-skirt by Costume National @ Zappos Couture.  I’d tone down the rest of the outfit.  Maybe a pair of flat boots…and a thin turtleneck sweater with 3/4 sleeves I’m thinking.

Back around again, how much do you love this purple Coach leather Sabrina?  Go ahead and splurge, the little glass beads right above it are only £6 at OliverBonas.com!  Colorful accessories like that are great to brighten up a neutral outfit, like a suit.  Try pairing lavender with something unexpected like brown or green.  You can stow all your accessories in the Kate Spade patchin place large colin; it’s big, over 7″ wide.  There are two smaller cases on the website if you’re looking.

..
Bringing up the rear is another one of my favorite topics: dresses!  (I love dresses!)  Petite frames should jump at Shoshanna’s fuchsia silk square link dress; curvy girls of any size stay away.  It’s a shame since my heart is breaking over the pops of turquoise and orange on it.

Think Spring

Top, going clockwise: Shoshana dress, $210; Suzi Chin for Maggy, $128 ; Yoanna Baraschi, $220; Emilia blouse, $38; Vera Wang dress, unavailable; Design History ermine dress $72

Plus sizes, I never forget you.  I fell in love when I saw this green matte jersey shift dress by Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique.  If you click on the picture to see it larger, you can see the banded neck and hem, which I think is a great detail; it comes in sizes 14w-24w at Nordstrom.

Lookie at the cobalt blue used again for this ’40’s styled Yoana Baraschi silk swing dress.  I’m just not sure a pale-face like your dear blogger can wear cobalt.  If I can, I’m snatching up this dress when it goes on sale at Bluefly.

The “Emilia” red blouse is also for plus sizes; it’s a wrap style, which works on almost everyone, and would look fab on it’s own with a pair of dressy pants and heels, or under a suit.  It’s going fast and is available in a smattering of sizes >14 in Tomato, Black and Chocolate at b&lu (Go ahead.  We’ll wait.).

Almost last, but by no means least is a Vera Wang dress, which seems to have become extinct.  Ah well, it was nearly $500, anyway.  Can I offer you a green Vera Wang in a size 8 as an apology?  I promise I’ll make it up to you with a carmine red Design History jersey pleat dress.  This also has a very sweet, retro feel to it, and would look fantastic with a pair of classic square heel pumps like these.

>

This should keep you shopping for a while, pr0n pals!  Do let me know what you think; I love your comments.

.
Until then, it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

Shopping Pr0n Exclusive: Spring at SimplyBe!

SimplyBe Plus Size Dress: Juan4

Juan 4?

Welcome to March, pr0n darlings!  I’ve hated to be away from you but I promise it will be worth it.  This is a very special edition of Pr0n Plus; Shopping Pr0n has been given an exclusive (I think) sneak preview of the new plus-size women’s Spring line at SimplyBe.  Everything at SimplyBe comes in sizes 14-32! Remember that plus size black and white ruffle dress from SimplyBe I showed you two weeks ago in Pr0n Plus?

Our good friend Charlotte from Gok Wan (maker of fine plus-size shapewear) wrote to me the other day with pictures from their new Spring clothing trends.  Please take a moment to check out their press release.

Until the line at SimplyBe goes live on Friday, you’ll only see these pictures here (probably)!!!

.
This little hottie is from the Bohemian Boutique collection, but I’ve never seen a Bohemian that looked like this!  I told you in last week’s Pr0n Plus that a cobalt blue was going to be one of the “it” colors this spring and I’m right!  (I love being right!)

I see a scoop neck ruffle tiered dress that goes to about mid thigh, with straps wide enough to hide your bra (or Gok Wan shapewear.  Just saying!).  The styling here is adorable – black tights and a black pump or Mary Jane.  But you could also wear it with a pair of dressy sandals.

.

SimplyBe Plus Size Fuschia Dress: Bohemian Boutique

SimplyBe Plus Size Fuchsia Dress: Bohemian Boutique

Also in Bohemian Boutique is this smokin’ little fuchsia number.  It’s also coming up as “Juan 4″…sooo I’m thinking that’s wrong. :)  Just call it  ‘That Hot Fuchsia Dress’ until Friday.

SimplyBe Plus Size Double Belt

SimplyBe Plus Size Double Belt

.

.

.

.

This is definitely more tunic-y to me.  I might be a bit fashion forward and pair it with this awesome double belt from the Homespun series, and maybe a pair of skinny jeans.

Plus sizes can wear skinny jeans, but they’re relegated to the more apple-y shaped.  Pears need to stick to a straight/boot-cut/wide leg jean to balance our booties.

.

SimplyBe Plus Size Long V-Neck Cardigan

SimplyBe Plus Size Long V-Neck Cardigan

You could also use the belt with this comfy looking oversized blue v-neck cardigan.  I can’t tell if it’s a long sleeve or a 3/4 length, but this is a cardi that’s long enough to be warn by itself over leggings or jeans, or a casual skirt if it’s long enough.

I love the cornflower blue color, which is so flattering, and the the front pockets I think I’m seeing.  Throw a long sleeve T-shirt under this to go causal, or a silky cami to dress it up!

.

SimplyBe Plus Size "Homespun" Patchwork Tee

SimplyBe Plus Size "Homespun" Patchwork Tee

.

Back to you pears and hourglasses – this long tee/tunic is adorably bohemian, even though it’s part of the Homespun series.  It’s so very flower-child in red and blue patchwork.

It’s with jeans in this picture, but why not wear it with a pair of long shorts and Grecian flat sandals?

.

.

SimplyBe "Homespun" Fringe Hobo

SimplyBe "Homespun" Fringe Hobo

By the way, the handbag the model is carrying here is so totally part of the collection.  Release your inner ’70s chick with this tan hobo with fringe, grommets and an outside pocket.

Simply Be Mexican Sunrise Butterfly Dress

Simply Be Mexican Sunset Butterfly Dress

.

.

Oh!  I’m completely neglecting Mexican Sunset. Poor Mexican Sunset!  How could I ignore this butterfly dress?

Multi-colored butterflies are scattered around a slouchy black short sleeved dress, and then repeated in a mini-butterfly pattern on the bottom hem.

This has got to be one of my favorites.  It’s going to be flattering on a variety of plus-size body shapes and you can wear it with one of these wide bangles and a bunch of really skinny ones.

Mexican Sunset Wide Bangles

.

Mexican Sunset Flower Dress

Mexican Sunset Flower Dress

Okay, two more of my favs!  From the Mexican Sunset collection, this lovely black chiffon dress with a big orange and flower on the side.  This is so feminine and so summery, with the flutter sleeves and deep neckline.

It’s more for a curvy pear/hourglass shape because of how it skims the body.  Apples want shapes that flow more away from the body, especially around the waistline.  What they don’t know can’t hurt them, right? :)

.

Homespun Embroidered Elastic Waist Top

Homespun Embroidered Elastic Waist Top

Finally I want you to see this long white top.  It’s embroidered with blue and red around the scoop neck, and front pockets, and has an elasticized red empire waist.  It’s suitable for all body types, and patriotic in lots of countries!

.

My sincere thanks to Char for the scoop.  Let’s all head over on Friday and give them a little Shopping Pr0n love.  We’re lucky to have such a wide variety of thoughtfully designed plus-size clothing.

.

Until next time, it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?

(FYI, there is no “pay for play” here on Shopping Pr0n! If I feature something, it’s because I really and truly like it. I get no kickbacks other than basking in the glow of your love. )

I’ve been looking for an excuse to show you this top since I found it…which was a while ago.  Via SmashingDarling.com, which specializes in indie designers, Shar Dann is hand making this absolute piece of art.  It’s made out of Modal/Cotton/Lycra, with a Silk applique.

The last time I featured SmashingDarling was during Eco Friendly Pr0n, when I showed you designer Gina Michelle and her bamboo dresses.

I’m in awe of how this top is gathered and sewn; I can’t believe it isn’t twice the price it is. This is purple; it’s also available in Berry and Black, up to XL, which is a size 16.  I’m tempted to find a place for it in my own wardrobe.

.

If you’re a devoted Pr0nista,  you know by now that I believe good fashion has so much to do with detail.  A twist on a simple design can make a boring shirt exciting. For example this turquoise knotted front top from Missphit.

For only $36 my fuller figure pr0n friends can have this lovely turquoise top up to a size 3x.  What’s so great about the shape of this top is that it’s going to work on you whether you have a waistline or not.

The v-neck is going to draw the eye down and create the illusion of a longer/slimmer neck. Then it knots in every woman’s smallest place: right under the bust.

If you have a little waist, this will just make it look better, and if you don’t, this will just hide your tummy and make it seem like you have one.

Wear it with khakis or a casual skirt or jeans and a pair of heels, and accessorize with a great necklace or a pair of dangly earrings…

…and take with you this adorable fuchsia (I spell that wrong every single time) clutch from Lina Pelle that I found on sale at Luna Boston.

(Surprisingly, the last Luna Boston bag I showed you is still available. Just not under $100.)

Most of what’s over at Luna is so very very pr0nish, including Linea Pelle, which is a luxury leather line, so finding this on sale is a true find.  As I’m sure you can imagine, it’s available in limited quantities – especially when you see the zebra striped lining. Couldn’t you just die?

Luna says “Danielle” is a soft buttery leather with funky silver-tone hardware, and measures 11.5″w x 6.5″h x 1″d – enough for your cellphone, ID/money case, lipstick and condoms. (I’m just saying. A true pr0nista protects herself.)

Accessories are so important, aren’t they, dumplings? I like to accessorize with a lovely man on my arm.  Maybe he’s even wearing this aqua blue-with white squares “Chillin Villian” shirt?

In my travels I’ve learned that apparently men aren’t supposed to wear bright colors.  No wonder men dress poorly; they’re bored witless!

Luckily Tobi has this shirt for you.  They’re calling it green; I say aqua blue.  Toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe.  What matters is that it’s 100% cotton, made in India, and fits true to size up to an XL.  The gentleman to my right is wearing a large; you can see his measurements by clicking on the picture.

For crisp, cool summer dresses, you can find me trolling the racks at Anthropologie, and I’ll be trying on the Missouri Primrose Shift.

In cobalt blue cotton, with a cotton lining and silk flowers climbing up the side, where won’t you go in this dress?

Put it on with a pair of casual sandals during the day, and change into a dressier pair at night with a delicate bracelet and a cardigan – maybe in red or green.

Its available in regular or petite sizes 2-12 still! Go on – time’s a wasting!

To stay cool and comfy, slide into this organic cotton cami/pantie set that Louella Bloom sells on Etsy.

I’ve shown them here in plum, but they’re also available (on sale) in yellow, as well as gray, black, and cream, also as a thong, panti and nightie.

The best part to me is that they’re tagless! If you have sensitive skin like your dear blogger, this should be music to your ears.

For something a bit fancier, see the organic silk set I had, also in Eco Pr0n.

Lovely pron friends, there is a time and a place for plaid. That place is not on your man’s shorts or pants.  It is, however on his sneakers.

These raspberry/blue plaid converses are scrumptious and perfectly appropriate with a pair of easy fitting shorts or jeans or khakis.

You can even wear it with something like the blue and white shirt above, just don’t go crazy. Keep it to one additional color, and you’ll be fine.

Finally, just as I started with something I needed an excuse to share, I’m going to end with the same. (Really this whole blog is just an excuse to share things I like, but who’s asking?)

I adore Milly New York. I’d roll around in her line if it could (This is pr0n after all.)  The colors she uses, combined with the classic, feminine shapes, attention to detail, quality fabrics and slight retro winks make this blogger’s heart go pitter-pat.

This red button pleat shirt from Shop Twigs is a prime example. If you lean in a bit,  you can see the jacquard pattern woven into the Italian wool.

It’s 95% wool with a 100% silk lining, and it falls 19″ from the natural waist.  Just imagine it with gray tights and a pair of flat knee-high boots (like these Bandolinos $89.95!).

The front pleat is known as a reverse pleat (because it’s reversed, see?).  Normally pleats = bad; in this case, pleats = good.   The skirt is made in NY and only available in sizes 4,6,8, but what a deal you’re getting! Have I really not shown you any Milly yet? Shame on me!

I hope you found something today to add to your closet.  If not, just wait a day or two; there’ll be more! Don’t forget, every Monday is now a new edition of Pr0n Plus!

As always, it was good for me; tell me, was it good for you?
